Coming from Paris area, Benoit LARCHER approaches music with a particular sensitivity for drums and percussions that he discovers through his Caribbean origins.
He is part of numerous musical projects and has the opportunity to collaborate with Rido Bayonne, Djakare, Laolla, Azukar, Carlos de Nicaragua, Irvin Acao, Felipe Cabrera, Juan Rozzof…
In addition to his rewarding musical activity, he is coaching the French Badminton para-Olympic team. He settled inToulouse and soon after received a gold medal at Dortmund world championship with David Toupé.
Through experiences and open stages in the pink city of Toulouse, he met the trumpeter Nicolas Algans, who is very active in jazz and Latin music. They discussed about creating a Latin-jazz band rooted around a strict and ambitious musical repertoire but leaving a large place to the freedom ofimprovisation.
In 2013 together with five talented musicians, the trombonistfrom Reunion Teddy Doris, the Cuban Luis Daniels Olivero on the flute and Alto Saxo, Thibault Dufoy on the piano, Elvin Bironien on the bass guitar, Laurent Planells on the drums they accepted the challenge and gave birth to 7RAMAS, a spicy mixed origins septet.
With a similar musical energy and a deep desire to get involved in a creative project, the seven members formalizedtheir commitment recording orchestrations around the musical works of the great Chucho Valdès, the multi-instrumentalist Tony Martinez and the percussionist Ralph Ilrizarry.
On this special occasion, the Cuban saxophonist Irving ACAO visited them and immortalized a sublime solo on the title “Gracias Chucho”
The band is currently working on its first EP, expected early next year, and invites you to discover 7RAMAS live.
